INVISTA adds revolutionary sock technology to hosiery segment

Knee-high socks hit the catwalk during AW16 and AW17 fashion shows.

INVISTA has launched a new LYCRA fibre technology designed to banish uncomfortable skin marks caused by knee-high socks.

LYCRA Made to Fit You technology is made to deliver an improved balance between force and compression, resulting in a product that delivers comfort for all sizes, with no garment slippage and less digging in.

The invention launches on the back of a recent study that found that most women are dissatisfied with knee-high socks currently on the market.

The two main issues highlighted were red marks due to digging in (47%) and garments slipping down (24%).

One hundred women from the US, Europe and China have since wear-tested concept garments made with the new technology and 83% rated the product either good, very good or excellent compared to conventional knee-highs.

Most participants (90%) experienced fewer marks and less digging in, 85% found the garment stayed in place and 90% said that they preferred the concept garment compared to products currently available in the market place.

“We are delighted with the outcome of this new technology and the results from our wear test have exceeded all expectation,” said Jane Gwyther, marketing segment manager for Legwear at INVISTA.

“Two out of three non-wearers from our study said that they would now start wearing knee-highs with LYCRA Made to Fit You technology, highlighting its potential to grow the category and build consumer loyalty. This new technology truly delivers a new standard in comfort.”
