A Canadian lingerie firm that is vowing to shake up the industry with the world’s first ‘8-in-1’ bra has raised a colossal $750,000 (£486,000) in crowdfunding with a week of its campaign still to spare.
Knixwear, creator of the Evolution Bra, initially set out to raise $30,000 (£19,000) to further its development, but investors have rushed to back the campaign as news of its innovation has spread.
The company will use the cash it raises to fund its first production run and bring the product to market after nearly a year of testing. It has the manufacturing arrangements in place and ready to go, but as a relatively new brand it needs to guarantee certain order minimums.
The bra is the third crowdfunding campaign that Knixwear has embarked on and is quickly becoming the biggest fashion success on the Kickstarter website.
Knixwear has billed the Evolution Bra as the “world’s most comfortable, versatile and technologically advanced bra”.
It is fully reversible and underwire-free with four-way stretch technology that reduces impact on the bust and comes with two sets of adjustable straps. Its patented fabric also absorbs sweat, fights odors and has a super-fast dry time for a seamless transition between work and play.
The company designed the bra with the active woman in mind and the idea of the ‘8-in-1’ concept is based on the idea that it can adapt to the rigors of the busiest days, seamlessly transitioning between work and play.
It has been wear-testing the bras for the past 10 months and over that time has had more than 70 women of all different cup sizes putting the piece through the rigours of their daily lives.
The creation of a bra range is the next natural step for Knixwear after it launched the business two and a half years ago with a line of high tech women’s underwear. It has since sold more than 100,000 pairs of underwear to women from over 35 countries.
