Trade show nominates Shan as Designer of the Year
For this event, MODE CITY is putting the spotlight on the Canadian brand Shan, created by Chantal Lévesque in 1985.
Present around the world in more than 400 outlets, from Bon Marché to Saks Fifth Avenue, the brand produces all its Men’s and Women’s collections in Quebec, the home of its headquarters and a production workshop.
Shan, the creator of the ‘Resort wear’ concept, stands out due to the breadth of its range of clothes and swimwear accessories. The brand is recognized for its daring style and for the simplicity of its lines and cuts.
By focusing on design and know-how, the brand creates innovative, high-quality clothes by combining exclusive Italian fabrics and painstaking attention to the luxurious details and the technical finishes.
Discover the EDEN Forum
In July, MODE CITY will join forces with the Trend Union office to offer an ‘original experience’ at the heart of intimates and swimwear trends for summer 2012.
Trend Union, present on all five continents, creates presentations of unique trends for special occasions. Known for its audiovisual fashion and lifestyle displays, this is the first time Trend Union will express its vision of the major trends of tomorrow for the core market identity and consumer behaviour.
On the theme of Eden, Trend Union will create a ‘journey of discovery for the senses’: embracing bodies, highlighting forms, glorifying the skin and boosting the silhouette.
Four key themes can be discovered around the senses:
• Land and Sand: drapes, antiquity, chic
• Crystals: romance, the energy of stones
• Gold: mystique, sexiness and femininity
• Rock: sport, volumes and mineral textures
L’ULTRA, a fashion catwalk show
This catwalk show is the occasion for clothes makers and the major intimates and swimwear brands to combine their know-how during a catwalk show of 50 prototypes around a common theme, ‘Holiday Diary’, played out against three backgrounds: Oriental Desires, African Dreams and Treasures of Polar Nights.
The catwalk show seeks to reward the inventiveness, creativity and know-how of the participants with various awards which will be presented by the Ultra Ambassador. Seven hundred VIP buyers will be invited to Place Vendôme on Saturday 9 July’ 2011. After a cocktail in the gardens, they will be invited to see the ‘unique, magical’ catwalk show.

MODE CITY presents an original study: Paris, Milan, Berlin _ Women & Swimsuit.
This qualitative study, carried out as a round table with some 30 European women by Martine Leherpeur Conseil, paints a portrait of three types of women: Milanese, Berliners and Parisians.
Through an imaginary journey, Mode City highlights the ways of life and the swimwear and summer wear fashion trends of these European neighbours, with their very different approaches.
In order to understand their purchasing behaviour and their influences, the study takes on a holiday atmosphere and presents its results in the form of suitcases.
What are their relationships to fashion and more specifically to swimwear? What are their relationships to their bodies? Their holiday aims? Their favourite destinations?
