French elastics producer Cheynet will be crowned Designer of the Year at fabrics exhibition Interfilière Paris in January.
The Cheynet Group will be recognised for its services to the lingerie, beachwear and activewear sectors over 70 years.
The company was founded in 1949 by Jean Cheynet and his sons in Saint-Just, near Lyon.
In 1993 the family handed over the reins of the group and Grégoire Giraud took the helm.
“Since I arrived to head up Groupe Cheynet, my main mission has been to ensure total control of the industrial and sales value chains,” said Giraud.
“The Group, comprised of four companies, is vertically integrated, from yarn processing, to dyeing, to the finishing of elastics.”
Cheynet employs 200 people and 60% of its revenue comes from the lingerie sector, with major European brands including Chantelle, Simone Pérèle, Lise Charmel, Maison Lejaby and La Perla being its main customers.
Commenting on the award win, Giraud said: “We are delighted to receive this award. It is a real recognition by the profession of all the efforts made by all the teams at Cheynet, and of our truly fashion-focused collections.”
