The 7th edition of Interfiliere ended on a positive note, with the post-show report documenting a 5% increase in overseas visitors, with 3,200 industry visitors from 45 countries attending the show
170 international exhibitors attended the trade show, with the brands covering the full spectrum of the intimate apparel sector, showcasing fabrics, accessories, lace, embroidery, textile design and new technology.
The show saw a high international attendance on day one, which reaffirmed the importance of Hong Kong as a centre for intimates and swimwear.
Despite a 4% decrease in the overall attendance over the two days, the trade show maintained its quality in both exhibitors and visitors. 60% of the visitors were major buyers including CEOs, managing directors, heads of purchasing or buying departments as well as designers.
The top 10 countries that visited Interfiliere Hong Kong were, in order of attendance: China, Taiwan, Thailand, South Korea, the US, France, Japan, Russia, India and the UK.
When focusing on Asia, Southeast Asian countries were well represented with returning visiting countries including Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Malaysia. The show also attracted new visitors from Vietnam. Additionally, India and Bangladesh were more prominent.
Other regions and countries that gained visibility in this edition of Interfiliere were Canada and the United Arab Emirates.
Several exclusive events and seminars took place during the two day trade show with both exhibitors and visitors participating in value-adding seminars and conferences.
Together with the French Knitting and Lingerie Federation, Interfiliere Hong Kong pioneered the first cosmetic textile project in Asia. The Poly-Sensorial Zone acted as a platform to further educate international industry professionals on the specifications, applications and technology involved when using these advanced materials.
The students of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, BA programme (Hons) in Fashion and Textiles with specialism in Intimate Apparel collaborated on this project and created six inspirational prototypes with functional and cosmetic fabrics.
The 8th edition of the show will take place on April 1-2, 2014.
