Lingerie industry veteran David Morris is set to host a series of short courses for budding intimate apparel designers.
De Montfort University’s former principal lecturer in Contour Fashion will hold the workshops throughout the month of May.
Key topics include core bra pattern cutting and grading; technical bra fitting; and swimwear and activewear pattern cutting and grading.
He will also offer a technical introduction to setting up a new lingerie brand.
Morris joined this industry nearly 50 years ago when he became a student at Leicester Polytechnic on the Dip.AD Foundation Garment, Lingerie and Swimwear Design course.
Three years later he graduated and joined Triumph International as a lingerie designer.
He worked as a technical designer for the next 15 years in a number of UK companies including Gossard, Fantasie and Marathon Knitwear. In 1985 he started as a consultant to international Intimates companies.
In 2014, he retired from his role at DMU after 18 years, but continued as a consultant to the industry.
Prior to his retirement, he started IA Technical, a magazine that specialises in technical training for the intimates industry.
He delivers technical training courses in the UK and overseas and has developed Distance Learning Professional Development courses for students unable to attend the Leicester-based courses.
