Heatwave spurs rush on George bikinis

Since the start of the heat wave sweeping across the UK, shoppers have purchased over £1.1 million worth of bikinis from George, Asda’s clothing label.

In the three days leading up to July 22nd, the retail chain sold over 200,000 two-piece swimsuits, a sales rush usually only seen at the launch of a prominent designer collection.

Gents are also looking to beat the heat, and Asda has sold over 500,000 pairs of George men’s swim trunks. To ensure customer satisfaction and product availability, Asda is restocking its swimwear on a daily basis.

Helen Connolly, Head of Design at George stated: “Since the sun has come out our swimwear range has been in high demand from shoppers and has flown off the shelves, in store and on George.com. The ability to change our stock whatever the weather outside has proved hugely popular with customers. They can sunbathe in style or work their wellies should the weather change.”
