Actresses Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke star in a body positivity lingerie campaign for New Zealand brand Lonely.
The stars of hit US TV show, Girls, shun photoshop in a series of images shot for the brand’s latest campaign, the Lonely Girls Project.
In one image, Dunham sits on the edge of a bathtub in a New York City apartment wearing the label’s softcup Penny bra, made of sheer stretch lace, and matching highwaist briefs.
Kirke meanwhile is dressed in the Bonnie underwired bra in powder blue and matching brief.
In another shot, Dunham wears the Winona underwired bra – a strappy style featuring lace cups with mesh panelling – while Kirke applies lipstick to her co-star wearing the Gigi sheer stretch mesh set in black.
Through the Lonely Girls Project, Lonely said it “aspires to showcase women wearing underwear in a way that we usually don’t see in mainstream advertising and the media.”
“Instead of being objectified, the women who participate in these campaigns – in this case, Lena and Jemima – are empowered and exhibit real beauty that will hopefully help women everywhere feel a little more liberated. The brand also never retouches a single image,” the brand said in a statement.
