London-based Scarletta is the exciting new curve-loving and curve-enhancing lingerie brand, which launched at The Lingerie Edit last month. Here, founder and designer Ije Nwandu tells us more.
Lingerie Insight: How would you describe your first lingerie collection?
Ije Nwandu: Inspiration is taken from my Nigerian background, in terms of the shapes, the colour palette and print. I didn’t want a collection that was too overtly sexy, but I still wanted it to feel feminine, powerful and strong. This is reflected in the fabrics that we have used – satin, eyelash lace, exclusive print and mesh. The brand offers luxury lingerie at an affordable price point.
LI: Who are your target customers?
IN: Scarletta is really aimed at all women who want to feel body confident and embrace their own shape. I am a 32G and although there is plenty of products available in my size, Scarletta really gives me that daily confidence boost.
LI: What is your price range?
IN: We have always felt that it’s important Scarletta stayed affordable and so the bras retail between £29 and £35 pounds. Wholesale prices are £11 upwards. The basque which I based my collection around retails
LI: Where do you manufacture?
IN: This launch collection will be manufactured partly in Europe and partly in the Far East.
LI: What are your next steps for the brand?
IN: We’re currently working on new and exciting designs and the colour palette
for SS16. We’re also looking at targeting international markets.
