The finalists of the 2014 UK Fashion and Textile Awards have been announced and the lingerie and swimwear industry is well represented across the board.
Beautiful Bottoms London, Curvy Kate and Olivia von Halle have been shortlisted for a UKFT Brand Award in the Lingerie & Beachwear category, while Okun Beachwear is one of three apparel designers hoping to pick up the Rise Award, which recognizes emerging talent.
Meanwhile, Damaris has been shortlisted for a Business Designer Award. The brand designs Damaris lingerie, as well as Mimi Holliday and Max Holliday collections.
House of Holland is the only brand to score two nominations, with nods for the Business Designer Award and Brand Award in the Womenswear category.
Steered by Hilary Alexander, fashion director for the Daily Telegraph, this year’s panel of judges deliberated over a record number of entries to select the final shortlist.
The judges also evaluated commercial performance and innovations that allowed these businesses to truly soar over the past 12 months; despite difficult economic conditions.
UKFT chief executive John Miln commented: “Following on from the success of last year’s Awards, we have been inundated with a record number of entries this year. From emerging young design talent and influential retailers, to some of the UK’s most impressive manufacturers, the judges had their work cut out with such a strong and diverse range of businesses in the running.”
The NatWest UK Fashion & Textile Awards will take place at East London’s Tobacco Dock on 22nd May.
