Women’s designer lingerie brand Fred & Ginger has announced the launch of its first swimwear collection, Midas Touch, for SS12.
The brand’s new collection takes its inspiration from Greek mythology and King Midas, popularly remembered for his ability to turn everything he touched in to gold. In reflection of this, each piece of the range has been named after a Greek God or Goddess.
Egyptian Pharaoh Cleopatra, whose heritage was that of Greek origin, has also provided inspiration through the medium of late iconic queen of style, Elizabeth Taylor, who played the role of Cleopatra.
The collection seeks to incorporate both the ‘decadence of Midas’ and the ‘elegance of Taylor’s portrayal of Cleopatra’ through mixing glitter stretch mesh in both black and gold with complimenting sparkling Lycra and gold details.
This season, Fred & Ginger has chosen:
Apollo Bikini, named after the God of poetry. It’s created from a shimmer charcoal Lycra with a rouched bandeau top and matching briefs
Aphrodite plunge costume, named after the Goddess of love and beauty, created from olive shimmer Lycra. It features a plunging neckline and gold glitter mesh.
Athena cut out costume, named after the goddess of wisdom. This is made from charcoal shimmer lycra with glitter mesh asymetic cut-out detailing.
