Two Contour Fashion students from De Montfort University have secured work placements with WGSN after winning a lingerie and swimwear trend forecasting competition.

WGSN opened the competition to all second-year students, who were tasked to create lingerie or swimwear lookbooks based on one of WGSN’s ‘fashion forecast’ themes for AW17/18 – Nocturne, Infusion, Design Matters and Earthed.

The lookbooks were presented to Katie May Atkinson, WGSN senior editor for Intimates and Swim, before Mollie Falkingham and Lauren Smith were chosen as the winners.

Runner up Georgia Phillips received Topshop vouchers for her work.

“The lookbooks were all so professional it actually gave me goosebumps,” said Atkinson.

“It was a really tough decision. I was looking for students that really understood the trend, alongside strong designs and fabric knowledge, as well as inspirational mood imagery to tell the story.”
