De Montfort University has launched a new course aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in marketing and promotion within the intimate apparel industry.
The Contour Fashion Communication course, which starts in October, is the first of its kind in the world to combine contour fashion with fashion buying modules, along with its own specific elements.
Students who enrol on the three-year programme will develop specialist skills in conceptual design, presentation formats, digital technologies, trend prediction, marketing, fashion business and entrepreneurship.
Speaking exclusively to Lingerie Insight at Moda Lingerie & Swimwear, Contour Fashion programme leader Gillian Proctor said the new course has been created to meet the changing requirements of the intimate apparel industry.
“We have found that brands are asking for different skills from graduates as the intimate apparel industry evolves,” she said.
“The course will prepare students for a career in marketing, social media, trend forcasting, product development, visual communication and PR,” Proctor added.
De Montfort University is currently interviewing applicants for the new course.
The programme has an optional placement year, with opportunities for international and UK-based placements.
