Lingerie designers will update the popular strapping look with fun prints and colours next season, a fuller-bust expert has predicted.
Elomi designer Liesl Goodman said strapping lingerie, which has traditionally had a harder, boudoir-style edge, will get a feminine makeover for SS17 and AW17.
Retailers can expect to see more strapping styles incorporate graphic prints, a softer colour palette and fluid fabrics like silk chiffon at upcoming trade shows.
“The strappy look has always been black and it’s been worn for date night, but I think it will become more every day and incorporate fun prints and colours,” she said.
Figleaves lingerie buyer Jenni Burt agreed and said the strapping trend shows no signs of slowing down.
“Strapping has been huge again this year. It is now embraced by all brands to some extent and we’ve seen it move from a harder edge into softer colour palettes and fabrics, making it accessible for everyone through most items of lingerie and apparel.”
Figleaves.com, which recently underwent a revamp, features an entire section dedicated to strapping lingerie, with brands from Dita Von Teese to Lepel embracing the trend.
