Debenhams opens 80,000ft2 store in Hertfordshire

Debenhams has opened a new 80,000ft2 store in Stevenage, Hertfordshire.

Hundreds of shoppers gathered for the opening of the store at Roaring Meg Retail & Leisure Park on Thursday morning.

Fashion designer Julien Macdonald cut the ribbon alongside local resident Jean Robinson, who was voted a community hero in a competition judged by the store team.

Jean, who lives with breast cancer, had been nominated by her daughter Stephanie Squires – and she was treated to an Estée Lauder-style makeover from Julien, reports local newspaper The Comet.

The store opening has created 80 new jobs, with staff recruited from Stevenage.
