De Montfort student wins M&S design contest

Lingerie created by Katy Menzies, a Contour Fashion student from De Montfort University and design contest winner, will hit the shelves at Marks & Spencer this week.

The competition was created by M&S especially for Contour Fashion students, and required them to “reflect style and forward-thinking trends, meet women’s changing lifestyles and lingerie needs.” The 21-year old Menzies was also given a cash prize and a month-long placement with the M&S lingerie design and technical team at their head office in London.

The lacy black and nude bra Menzies created is a redesign of the M&S Total Support Bra aimed at younger customers. Along with matching knickers, it will be available in select Marks & Spencer locations starting June 15th.

After graduating from De Montfort this summer, Menzies will begin working as a designer with the lingerie team at fashion and textile giant Courtaulds in Nottingham. Speaking about the contest, she stated in a press release: “my whole experience with Marks and Spencer has been fantastic. I am so excited to see my designs go on sale. After an amazing three years at DMU I will graduate next month and I am very excited for the future ahead.”
