David Beckham is reported to be creating his own range of men’s underwear.
The footballer increased sales at Armani by 30 percent, earning an estimated £20 million, when he modelled briefs in a campaign last year.
In creating his own brand, Beckham will be following in the foot steps of a long line of celebrities, including Cameron Diaz, Dannii Minogue, Demi Moore and his own wife Victoria.
A source, who is close to the star, reportedly said: “The whole planet went nuts when David stripped off for his Armani ads. Sales went through the roof. It was decided not to renew the Armani contract and develop a business of David’s own. He has seen how fulfilling it has been for Victoria to branch out into business and relishes a similar challenge.”
Manager Simon Fuller and fashion designer Stella McCartney, who are advising the former England Captain, are said to be ‘focused on turning him into a major fashion presence.’ If the underwear performs well, Beckham may follow up with male grooming products and moisturisers.
