Curvy Kate’s newest recruit, Lizzie Haines, has won Plus Size Model of the Year with 100percentpeople.com, beating celebs and other well-known models to the title.
Launching for the first time, this year, the ‘Plus Size’ awards accumulated over 64,000 votes in just under a month.
Haines, who has a size 14 figure, reportedly won the public’s support through her ‘confidence and desire for new challenges.’
100percentpeople managing director Kathryn Whatton said: “We at 100percentpeople are pleased that Lizzie Haines, who was in the lead from virtually day one, has won the 2011 Plus Size Model Award. It is good to see that this young woman is not only a model but also a budding entrepreneur.”
Haines was thrust into the public limelight when she won the Star in a Bra competition, hosted by D plus lingerie brand Curvy Kate.
In addition to modelling, 30 year old entrepreneur and freelancer Haines also runs her own business and blog called ‘Do It Momma.’
On her win, Haines said: “Let’s just say it’s more than a little bit surreal! To go from winning the Curvy Kate competition to gaining an accolade like this all in one year is not something I ever imagined would happen”.
Haines will now take part in the judging panel for the Star in a Bra competition 2012 and has recently taken part in the AW12 photo-shoot with Curvy Kate.
