Curvy Kate has fired the starting pistol for this year’s Star in a Bra competition, which aims to find a Curvy Ambassador to represent the brand.
The competition is open to all women, regardless of shape, size or age. All they need to do to enter is provide five modelling shots wearing either lingerie or swimwear.
As well as becoming the face of Curvy Kate for this year, the winner will also be put forward for an international modelling contract with Bridge Models.
“Challenging the notion that there is no such thing as a perfect body, the Star in a Bra competition celebrates diversity and champions the use of more realistic and varied bodies in the media, which everyone can relate to,” says Curvy Kate’s marketing manager, Hannah Isichei.
Curvy Kate is also running a breast cancer awareness campaign in conjunction with CoppaFeel alongside the competition. The two brands hope to educate and encourage entrants to get to know their boobs and understand the facts surrounding early breast cancer detection.
“As a brand we have never worked with professional models and over the years have built up an army of body-loving, public ambassadors – ready to shake up the notion of the norm. Star in a Bra is open to all, no restrictions and no experience necessary – if you can wear our bras – you’re in,” urges Isichei.
2015’s winner was Sophia Adams (pictured) from North London. “I entered Star in a Bra because I felt confident and loved the idea of modelling for a brand like Curvy Kate. I used to have so many body hang ups, hated my size and wanted to change myself, but as I got older I realised it’s all about self-love! I’m a size 18, I look after myself and I’m happy the way I am. It’s all about understanding and embracing that we all come in different shapes and sizes – and that’s the most beautiful thing of all”.
The entry stage will run from the 1st March – 31st May on Starinabra.com. Curvy Kate will be holding live auditions with successful entrants before they go head-to-head in a public vote. The winner will be announced on the 25th August.
