Curvy Kate fans design with new interactive app

Curvy Kate has launched a new Facebook application, which allows ‘fans’ to produce their own swimwear designs.

The new swimwear design tool will run through the social networking site Facebook (www.facebook.com/curvykate), across the brand’s UK, American and Australian Curvy Kate pages.

The concept, created by social media agency mycleveragency, encourages ‘fans’ of the brand to choose their favourite swimwear top and swimwear brief combination, which they can then add to with a multitude of patterns, colours and design.

Fans can upload their designs and compete against friends or the Curvy Kate community by designing their ‘perfect’ beach wear set.

With over 60,000 possibilities available, the tool is expected to provide insightful information to the brand, as well as being a fun activity for its followers to engage in.

After six weeks of design, the brand’s ‘Beach Brilliance’ shortlist will be drawn up with the finalists facing a public vote. The ultimate winner will take away the full Spring Summer 2013 swimwear collection with their designs displayed on the brand’s social pages.

Curvy Kate marketing manager Hannah Houston said: “We first came up with this concept as we wanted something fun, interactive and viral that our fans could take part in. First and foremost the application puts our fans in the driving seat and was designed as a fun competition to get people talking and thinking about what they would want if they could have any piece of swimwear.”

She added: “It’s great to give our fans the chance to be involved in design and creativity and we’ll also be able to track popular pieces, colours and designs. Our community is continuing to grow and we want to continue to find out exactly what our customer needs.”

Over the past 18 months, the Curvy Kate Facebook pages have seen a growth of 6200 percent. There is reportedly a potential reach of over 7,500,000 through the ‘Swimwear Design’ concept.

Curvy Kate launched its swimwear range in 2012, which has grown into a 13 piece mix and match collection for Spring Summer 2013.
