Four friends from Portsmouth have secured a modelling contract from large-cup label Curvy Kate after beating over 4000 women to win Lorraine’s Model Mates competition.
To promote their win, the quartet took part in a photoshoot outside Debenhams on London’s Oxford Street earlier this week, launching the new swimwear range in store and the Curvy Kate’s latest campaign.
The Model Mates competition was launched on ITV1 programme Lorraine by Girls Aloud star, Sarah Harding to give a group of friends the chance to model in the national swimwear campaign.
Curvy Kate also organised a roadshow to promote the competition, installing photo-booths in department stores and independents across the country, including Simply B, Debenhams, John Lewis, Boutique 65 and Alan Espeys.
The winners, Rufaro, Ellesha, Charlotte and Camilla, were chosen by viewers of the Lorraine show.
Commenting on the win, Charlotte said: “Never in a million years did we think we would win, especially after being put down in the past for our shapes. The fact that we have shared this experience together means the world to us.”
Curvy Kate head of Marketing and PR Hannah Houston said: “Curvy Kate champions a positive body image and diversity which is why Lorraine’s Model Mates competition is fantastic and befitting for the brand.”
“There were no age, size or height limits which meant that we saw a great selection of friends coming together in the hope of becoming our next swimwear ambassadors. Curvy Kate believes a variety of looks should be shown in the media, for all women to relate to,” she added.
