Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has launched his own line of underwear under the brand CR7 by Cristiano Ronaldo.
CR7 is Ronaldo’s first brand venture and will be sold worldwide after officially launching on Friday. The range is being sold direct at cr7underwear.com and select third-party retailers.
Ronaldo has worked with New York-based fashion designer Richard Chai to create the collection, which includes luxury and basic briefs, trunks and boxers, socks, long johns and ranges for children. The range has been produced by Danish underwear manufacturer JBS Textile Group.
As yet, the brand has not signed up a UK distributor but has representatives in Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Denmark, Faroe Islands, France, Germany, Iceland, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Turkey.
To mark the launch Ronaldo appeared at Madrid landmark Palacio de Cibeles on Thursday to unveil a 19m-high campaign image, featuring the footballer modelling an item from the range. The campaign was shot by photographer Giampaolo Sgura.
At the launch, Ronaldo said: “I am very proud to officially launch CR7 today and especially to see my campaign image displayed in this beautiful building, one of the most famous landmarks in Madrid. I put a lot of passion and dedication into creating this new underwear line and I am delighted to finally launch it globally today.
“Fashion and design are two passions of mine and I have wanted to launch my own brand for a long time. Working on this collection alongside Richard has given me a great creative outlet and I have loved every part of collaborating on the range, from selecting the colours and designs to testing the styles and fits myself. I am very proud that the collection is launching worldwide today.”
