Erotic lingerie brand Coco de Mer has unveiled a new lingerie collection inspired by the second instalment of the Fifty Shades trilogy.

The brand worked with author E L James to develop the Fifty Shades Darker collection ahead of the release of the film version of Fifty Shades Darker next year.

The new range, which goes on sale in September, aims to capture the ‘inner goddess’ of the book’s heroine Anastasia Steele, played by Dakota Johnson in the film.

It is inspired by student Anastasia’s growth in sexual confidence as she gradually takes the dominant role in her relationship with billionaire Christian Grey.

Coco de Mer managing director Lucy Litwack said: “Fifty Shades Darker documents Anastasia’s growth in self-worth which has a knock-on effect on her relationship with Christian. She is now more in control – it’s as if the roles have been reversed.

“Ana starts to uncover her underlying sexual desires – becoming more liberated in and out of the bedroom,” she adds.

“Taking inspiration from the Seattle skyline and the pivotal masquerade ball, the collection focuses on empowering women while remaining feminine and sophisticated.”

E L James said: “I took inspiration from Coco de Mer when I was writing the books and visited the boutique in Covent Garden as part of my research.

“Fifty Shades Darker lingerie really captures Ana’s sexual awakening. It is luxurious, deeply provocative and elegantly erotic.”

The new collection is made up of bras, bodies, suspender dresses, slips, playsuits, robes and coordinates made using satin and lace.

Highlights include the halterneck Red Room bra (pictured) and the Masquerade basque featuring black satin and contrasting grey lace.

Fifty Shades Darker has been priced to appeal to a wide fan base – starting at £15 for a G-string, going up to £60 for a robe.
