Charnos has announced Hannah Catherine Thomas as the winner of its shapewear competition, carried out in collaboration with De Montfort University (DMU).
Charnos briefed the second year students to design a Glamour Shapewear capsule collection as a sister-range to complement its current Hourglass collection. The students developed a creative yet functional shapewear collection that demonstrated a unique selling point in the shapewear market and underlined the design direction for the Hourglass brand.
Students designed a range incorporating three to four pieces, using appropriate technical control fabrics. They were to look at the market and consider where the brand was positioned, the core customers, the competitors and key requirements for a customer as to the style, fit and comfort.
Charnos marketing manager Michelle Green said: “It’s a fantastic project for the students of De Montfort University but it also gives us a great opportunity at Charnos, to get an alternative perspective on the Hourglass collection and create a completely unique sister range that complements the current offering.”
Thomas won the competition with shapewear collection ‘A Girls Best Friend.’ The Judges felt that the collection would enhance Charnos’ current Hourglass range whilst offering the consumer a ‘more opulent and luxurious collection sister collection that would add, rather than dilute, the current collection.’
The two commendations were Sarah Caspie for a fantastic Concept and Amy Booth for Technical execution.
The winning design will be developed and made production-ready at Charnos, to then be included within the Hourglass sub-brand. Hannah also wins a cash prize and an exclusive placement at Charnos to learn the process of taking designs from concept through to production.
