Charini wins ethical enterprise award

Eco lingerie brand Charini has scooped a top prize at the Creative Enterprise Awards.

Founder Charini Suriyage collected the Social or Ethical Enterprise prize at the event, which celebrates the best examples of enterprising activity from University of the Arts London’s current students and recent graduates.

Charini uses ethically sourced handmade lace from Sri Lanka and employs traditional manufacturing methods.

The brand made its debut at London Fashion Week in September 2011, where it presented its latest collection, which seeks to fuse the traditional with the modern, ‘combining Sri Lankan craft with desirable design’.
