Victoria’s Secret Angel Candice Sawnepoel has been crowned the world’s most influential lingerie model.
The South African-born model, who has 11.8 followers on Instagram, can earn as much as £50,000 per post, according to research compiled by Bluebella.
Candice beat the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Dita Von Teese to the top of the list, not just because she has the most followers but because her posts on Instragram have far more impact than her competition.
While Rosie will typically get around 80,000 likes for a post, Victoria’s Secret star Candice’s average number of likes is well over 300,000.
The research was compiled by looking at the top influencer of each individual lingerie brand to reflect the industry as a whole.
Second place on the list was Alexis Ren, a 21-year-old model from California who has 11.7 million followers on Instagram.
She has been signed up by Sports Illustrated as one of its swimsuit stars of 2018 and recently graced the cover of Maxim magazine.
Bluebella chief executive Emily Bendell commented on the research: “In the past two years lingerie influencers have really blown up and are commanding huge fees for posts.
“Lingerie is a very specialist market but they are now starting to have millions of followers around the world. What is most important is not their number of followers but the level of engagement they get with each post. That shows their real influence and is the key element in driving sales.”
Third place went to Ana Cheri, a 31-year-old American model with 11 million followers on Instagram.
In fourth place was Abigail Ratchford, a 25-year-old model from Pennsylvania who is now branching out into acting with 8.2 million followers.
Rosie, the face of her Autograph lingerie range at Marks & Spencer, was the highest-rated Briton on the list in fifth place, while burlesque star Dita Von Teese, 45, was eighth with 2.1 million followers. She is the oldest model on the list.
