A crowdfunding campaign launched to kick start Lara Intimates, a new lingerie brand headed up by two Fashion Contour students from the London College of Fashion, has gone live today.
Co-founders Cindy Liberman and Faith Leeves hope to raise £22,500 to pay for specialist machinery, production assistants, fabrics and a studio space in East London.
The crowdfunding campaign, which has so far raised more £1,655, will run on Kickstarter for eight weeks. Click here to view the campaign.
Lara Intimates is a sustainable business that uses industry off-cuts – unused or dyed by large factories in the UK – to make its garments.
Its aim is to offer a complete underwear wardrobe that rivals high street styles.
The debut Lara Intimates collection is available to buy on Kickstarter. Investors will receive 30% off their purchases and those who spend £35 or more will be rewarded with free sets.
Liberman and Leeves were awarded £5,000 to help accelerate their business last month, after winning the Gold prize at the Student Enterprise Team (SET) Challenge finale.
They used the funds to pay for their website design, garment labels, swing tickets, sampling materials, elastics and bra wires.
