Brand launches model competition for black women

New Ghanaian lingerie brand Delilah’s Secret has launched a modelling competition aimed exclusively at black women.

The lingerie and beauty company is looking for a woman to be the face and body of the brand, which is being launched on Valentine’s Day next year and will offer high quality lingerie for women of African descent.

In addition to becoming the new face of Delilah’s Secret, the winner will receive a beauty hamper and a year contract that will include promoting the brand on the local and international stage. Selected finalists will participate in a professional photo shoot to model Delilah’s Secret lingerie, swimwear and accessories for the Delilah’s Secret brochure and online store. They will also receive copies of their photo shoot for their portfolio and massive discounts on the Delilah’s Secret lingerie and swimwear range.

The competition launched on August 2 and will run until September 12, 2011. Applicants must be over 18 years old and live in either Ghana or Africa. To enter, they need to e-mail delilahsecrets@googlemail.com with five pictures of themselves (two head shots and three body shots) in addition to their full name, date of birth, bra size, e-mail address, telephone number and location, along with an explanation of why they wish to be a Delilah’s Secret model.

Delilah’s Secret owner Anita Wiafe-Asinor said: “We are seeking ordinary African women in all their true natural beauty as Delilah’s Secret is a lingerie brand exclusively with the black woman in mind. Therefore, the Face of Delilah’s Secret should represent in our advertising campaigns, the body types of some of the customers we serve.

On the brand launch, she added: “The black woman needs more fashion and beauty companies that focus on them. Black women are often frustrated when trying to find lingerie to fit their shape as most lingerie are made for the western market and there is also a lack of black models who truly represent black women. Black women like me deserve a better deal when buying lingerie and that is why we are very excited about Delilah’s Secret.”
