A new lingerie boutique will open in Southend-on-Sea next month.
Bustles Boutique, the brainchild of bra fitting specialist Allison Hawkins and her friend Teresa Gibson, will open at the Victoria Shopping Centre on October 10.
The owners will host an in-store drinks reception from 10am to mark the opening.
Hawkins has 26 years’ experience in the lingerie industry, including retail, design and manufacturing.
She is a bra fitting specialist and trainer at Intimate Apparel Consultancy and has previously worked for major lingerie groups such as Wacoal Eveden (formerly Eveden), and as a branded sales consultant for a store in London’s West End.
Discussing her new career move with Lingerie Insight, Hawkins said: “Some people think I am crazy in wanting to open my own shop, but I feel very fortunate to be opening the business with my very good friend Teresa Gibson.
“Teresa and I have known each other for around 13 years, our children are best friends. Around a year ago we felt it was time to start looking to open a business of our own. It started off as a delicatessen shop, but neither of us had experience in this field -Teresa’s background is that of a project manager for a large corporate bank.
“So this is when the idea for us to open a lingerie shop, Bustles Boutique, was born.”
Bustles Boutique will carry lingerie from Empreinte, Lejaby, Chantelle and Passionata, Panache, Curvy Kate, Royce, Lepel, Charnos, Magic and Oroblu. The retailer will also stock Anita and Eberjey from November.
Sizes range from 28-44, AA to K cup.
