Bluebella has been named Lingerie Brand of the Year at the Drapers Awards.

Chief executive Emily Bendell and brand director Janet Mudge picked up the award at the Roundhouse Theatre in London on Thursday night.

The label beat a string of big names to pick up the award, including Figleaves, Freya, Hanro and Wacoal.

Bendell said: “This is the icing on the cake at the end of a brilliant year for Bluebella in which we have substantially grown sales both in the UK and internationally and been taken on by some great new retailers such as John Lewis.

“It was incredibly flattering to beat so many fantastic brands on the shortlist and is a fitting reward to the whole Bluebella team who have worked tirelessly throughout 2017.

“We are so excited for 2018 when we have lots of exciting new plans to grow the brand.”

Last year, Bluebella raised £1 million through crowdfunding to drive international expansion and boost its marketing and sales.

The brand aspires to be the modern face of lingerie – offering high designed, fashion-led but affordable lingerie for the Instagram generation.

It has rapidly grown sales by pioneering the underwear as outerwear trend.
