ASOS rolls out early warning system for deliveries

ASOS has teamed up with DPD to roll out a new service that they hope will drive up ‘right first time’ deliveries.

The Predict Service will see all consumers receive a notification of their delivery the night before with five ‘in-flight’ delivery options.

In addition to the ‘Change Delivery Day’ and ‘Deliver to Neighbour,’ customers will now be able to access three new options; ‘Deliver to a Safe Place’, ‘Collect From Nearest Depot’ and ‘Upgrade My Delivery.’

These can be accessed via a smartphone, tablet or desktop at any point during the delivery if the customer can’t be at home on the day to accept their parcel.

ASOS director of delivery solutions Matt Rogers said the new early warning service was part of “fine-tuning” the customer experience.

“For us, making sure customers receive their goods promptly and safely is every bit as important as being able to find what they want on the site in the first place," he added.

DPD CEO Dwain McDonald commented: "Retailers and businesses don’t want to just punt their parcels out into the ether and hope the majority of them get there in the end. A great delivery experience can now be the difference between a repeat purchase and a loyal customer or a ‘never-again’ style tirade on social media.”

The new service comes on the back of previous innovations like Follow My Parcel, launched last June to allow consumers to track their ASOS delivery in real time.
