ASOS recorded a big jump in both international and UK sales in the run up to Christmas, putting it among the top performers in retail over the festive trading period.
Total retail sales rose 38% to £335.7m in the four months to 31 December, the company said in a statement. Sales in the UK were particularly strong, growing 37% to £133.6m.
ASOS CEO Nick Robertson commented: “These results were driven by significant improvements to our customer proposition, including better delivery options, additional payment methods and the roll out of our premier service in key international markets."
“Pleasingly we ended the period with 7.9 million active customers, 41% ahead of prior year, and our retail gross margin also increased, by 90 bps, reflecting tighter stock control," he added.
The retailer is currently increasing the capacity of its Barnsley site and plans to open its central European distribution centre later this year.
