Asceno introduces AW15 lounge and beachwear

The team behind Beautiful Bottoms, which was rebranded as Asceno in the summer, has unveiled its AW15 collection of lounge and beachwear.

Creative Directors Poppy Sexton-Wainwright and Lauren Skerritt launched Beautiful Bottoms five years ago when both were in their early 20s.

The rebrand as Asceno – a combination of their mothers’ maiden names – was an evolution that drew a line under the team’s youthful start up phase and better reflected the sophisticated international company it is becoming.

The strategy appears to be paying off, with Le Bon Marche in Paris and De Bijenkorf in Amsterdam both becoming Asceno stockists this month.

For AW15, the designers took inspiration from their travels to Northern Africa. The palette draws from Moroccan landscapes; combining the coastal colours of nude, powder blue, navy and teal with mystical sunset hues; cerise, Tibetan red and deep purple.

The Asceno collection is divided into loungewear and beachwear, both of which encapsulate powerful elements of the North African culture – from Aztec and Bedouin jewellery patterns, geometric diamond and graphic checkerboard prints as well as Moroccan textile references in textured silks.

The collection celebrates the jet-set glamour of the 1970s, building on the refined silhouettes of that period, the Asceno woman travels from St. Tropez to Portofino and finally to Marrakech, infusing her style with finds along the way.

The collections will be launched at The Lingerie Edit in London on January 8-9; Salon International de la Lingerie in Paris on January 24-26 and at Curve New York from February 22-24.
