The application process for the 2014 Lycra Future Designers Award has officially opened.
Students or graduates can now nominate themselves for a chance to win Lycra fibre fabrics to help them with their forthcoming collections, as well as an opportunity to work with expert mentors at INVISTA, the owner of the Lycra brand.
The award will be presented at the WGSN Global Fashion Awards in November to a budding designer who demonstrates outstanding, unique design and innovation talent.
Denise Sakuma, Global Brand Communications Director for INVISTA Apparel & Advanced Textiles said: “Innovation and creativity are the foundations of the LYCRA fibre brand, so we will be looking for a designer who brings fresh ideas, vision and inspiration to the market, someone who has a strong sense of their own brand, a clear understanding of their target customer and of where they would like to take their career and business in the future.”
To enter, participants must submit designs, including sketches, moodboards and other supporting material, for a minimum of four and a maximum of six pieces/looks that could be manufactured using LYCRA fibre brand products.
At least three of the pieces/looks must be intimate apparel, swimwear, active sportswear or hosiery/tights categories.
Entries are made via the Global Fashion Awards website or INVISTA’s LYCRA fibre brand Facebook page.
The 2013 LYCRA Future Designers title was awarded to Lucy Gardner who graduated from Falmouth University.
