AP inspired by Helmut Newton's muses for AW15

Agent Provocateur took inspiration from renowned photographer Helmut Newton’s most famous muses to develop its sensual AW15 collection, All Woman.

The brand said its new collection reflects the “dominant femininity” in the late fashion photographer’s work and celebrates “naturally sexy” women who have embodied their eras in their own unique ways.

A highlight of the range is the Vira corset, which pays homage to the corset worn by Sophia Loren in the 1960 film The Millionairess.

Kim Basinger’s strip tease in 9 ½ weeks cemented the status of the simple silk negligee as an icon in a woman’s lingerie wardrobe. That sensuous and feminine aesthetic that Basinger embodied in the 1980’s has influenced AP’s soft-focus approach to some of this season’s key ranges.

The Willa is a frothy-but-feisty set in midnight blue lace and chiffon, with a retro teddy to lounge around in.

The All Woman collection also pays homeage to the Cindy Crawford’s golden era, the 1990s. Her enduring appeal has inspired highlights in the collection such as the Sonia, a Mugler-esque corset constructed of body-sculpting laminated silk panels; the Maxene dress, a micro-mini, zip-slashed design; and Mollie, a push up bra available in fuchsia.

Lara Stone’s beauty shattered the fashion industry’s waifish aspirations when the gap-toothed, Dutch model first broke into the industry at age 17.

It’s her uncompromising womanliness that has kept her at the top of the highest earning models since then, and which inspired several of the season’s more contemporary ranges.

These styles include the Mona dress, made using navy duchesse silk and trimmed with peach crystals, and the Sherrie playsuit, featuring silver sequin strapping tied up with bows on the shoulder and bum.
