ANALYSIS: Looking at the performance of Mode City 2017

Less than a week on from Mode City, organisers have released figures detailing this year’s attendance.

This year’s show saw an 18% increase in top-quality guests compared to last year.

Host nation France remains well in the lead of visiting countries with 28% of total guests attending the show. This edition was marked by a significant jump for Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Central Europe and Japan, according to the organisers.

But while there was an overall rise, visitors from Switzerland fell by two percentage points while Italy slipped by one.


Jelena Aleksandrova from the Elkor Plaza department store, Latvia, said: “The show is a true premium showcase. I discovered new brands and new talents (particularly at Exposed). I think that our orders, which should be confirmed shortly, will raise the profile of certain brands in Latvia and in our Baltic region in general. I really enjoyed this edition. It was a great experience!”

The second edition of the Sportiv’ zone attracted new sport and department store sport buyers looking for new athleisure products.


Overall the event witness a major increase in French and international department store buyers.

The designer of the year, Raffaela d’Angelo, received special attention at the show for her 10 years at the show. Riding the wave of her international presence and delighted to receive this recognition, this Italian designer forged new partnerships and enhanced her network.
