American Eagle promotes airbrush-free campaign

Aerie’s #AerieReal ad campaign has proved popular with consumers.

Aerie, the teen lingerie brand owned by American Eagle, has launched a new ad campaign with models who are airbrush-free.

“We left everything. We left beauty marks, we left tattoos, what you see is really what you get with our campaign,” Aerie style and fit expert Jenny Altman told Good Morning America.

“It’s a selling point because our customers represent this great demographic and they don’t really get to see what girls their age really look like."

The idea behind the #AerieReal campaign is to represent “real” women so that young customers are encouraged to embrace their own beauty, instead of trying to live up to the ideal often promoted by the fashion industry.

Young shoppers can shop on Aerie’s website and see how the bra they like would fit a model with a similar body type and bra size of their own.
